HISTORY OF BA

We started backwards and crazy. :)

By 2025, there was already a name, a sound and an initial visual identity. For around a year, Fabian wrote and composed about ten songs. There was just one fairly important thing missing ... the band.

At that point, there was neither the right line-up nor any real connection to the music scene. Only one thing was certain ... if this vision came together, the band would be called Broken Amber. The inspiration for this: Johnny Depp's ex-wife.

So Fabian came up with a little master plan and turned the usual process on its head. Before Broken Amber ever appeared in public, he developed an almost fully realised world around his musical vision. Alongside the musical direction, this included the Blueprint EP “Loveblind”, its own imagery, he recorded his own vocals and replaced them digital, thousands of samples, a colour palette, visuals, an initial corporate design and small but elaborately

produced clips. That was about 137 jobs. But fun.

For its public phase, the blueprint was given the temporary name Broken Ember. This brought the previously private concept into public view. Broken Ember served as an art, development and casting project created to make the vision tangible and assemble the line-up for Broken Amber. Even at this early stage, it needed to carry a recognisable creative signature and an identity of its own. And perhaps, just perhaps, it was also a deliberately small-scale anti-AI music campaign. 😉

The project attracted some early attention, built a little fanbase and offered a first impression of which songs connected most strongly with listeners.

But here’s the crazy part: despite clear labels such as “Art Project”, some people assumed that the full band was already up and running. Was it all a little too convincing? Looking back, the intro to the Blueprint EP alone was one

of the greatest of all time. At least in Fabian’s opinion. And one particular song turned out to be rather crucial too.

One song even made it to second place in a “Metal Song of the Week” contest on YouTube.  Anyway... as a result,

the story behind the project was shared more openly with each passing month, while Fabian remained in constant dialogue with the community and dropped a ten-minute statement. It received a lot of love in return. Perhaps some people still don’t fully understand it, even today. But that’s okay. :)

Along the way, the first connections formed and the project found its earliest supporters while the search for the right line-up continued behind the scenes. The self-imposed goal was to find those people within six months.

In the end, it took around six weeks. Insane.

Nico joined Broken Amber in early 2026, becoming the first permanent member alongside Fabian.

Daniel said yes with a handshake after roughly five minutes over coffee. Laurence came in through the back door.

A total of 50 female singers applied. With Georgia, Fabian needed just twenty seconds of an initial screen recording to be certain: “She’s the one.” It took another two weeks before her final decision, according to Fabian, about as pleasant as waiting for someone to answer after a brilliant first date when you have already asked about seeing them again.

The answer came.

It later turned out that Georgia had only taken her time because she wanted to record an even better demo.

Of course. With Georgia, Nico, Daniel and Laurence, the line-up was complete and five people spread across different countries and cities became friends. The project had now fulfilled its original purpose. Only around four months after it first appeared publicly, the line-up had been found and the concept and casting phase was complete.

The previous project name remained in public for a little while longer. The band kept a low profile for several months while work on the debut single continued behind the scenes. The five had already met for photo shoots, for the first music video and some German beer, which also meant making the long journey from England to Germany.

Broken Amber’s visual identity was also developed much further. The original colour palette remained as a connecting element, while the overall corporate identity was rebuilt from the ground up.

Excitement was high. So was the pressure before the release.

Another three months passed before the right mixing and mastering engineer had been found and the

debut single was finally complete.

What a journey. What a crew.
